The following individuals were recognized for their heroic acts by the Kiwanis International Foundation Board of Trustees

Connelly's awarded in October 2006

Matthew Emmerling and Kevin Mahoney repeatedly entered a burning building in Pennsylvania, saving 10 lives.

Douglas Harrell swam out to a drowning US Soldier in Pensacola, Florida. The strong swimming Eagle Scout brought the man back to shore after two off-duty lifeguards were unable to reach him.

Steve Sliwa rescued an 88-year-old woman from her car that she had crashed into a high-voltage transformer in Daytona Beach, Florida. As they walked away, the car exploded.

Jack Logan and Bert Alexander both died to save two other lives in a boating accident on Lake Nicaragua this past April.

Brett Carlson and Jessica Pierce both died attempting to rescue drowning students in Costa Rica.

Connelly's awarded in June 2006

Matthew Castaneda and Ricardo Montalvo, off-duty officers who pulled a handicapped woman from a burning car then returned to the car to retrieve the woman’s insulin.

Edward Marsette who pulled three passengers out of an overturned burning vehicle and extinguished flames from one of the passengers.

Kyle Jonathon Musser who rescued two children from a burning vehicle.

Atsushi Ohta Hikkaido who lost his life trying to rescue the driver of an overturned car.

Nathan McPartlin, a high-school student who pulled an intoxicated woman from her car that was stuck on railroad tracks before a 91-car train destroyed her
vehicle.

Stephen Knight an off-duty law-enforcement officer who rescued a bar bouncer from being stabbed to death by an attacker.

Connelly's awarded in January 2006

Fu-Shan Lee, a fishing boat captain who rescued more than 80 persons from a burning boat off of the coast of Taiwan. Lee pulled his boat close enough to the burning transportation boat to rescue senior citizens on board and pull survivors from the water. Lee was nominated by the Kiwanis Club of Chin Lan, Taiwan.

Jen-Shan Chang, who helped pull people from the water into a rescue boat after he and his family abandoned their transportation boat, which was on fire. Because of the limited capacity of the rescue boats, Chan had to bend over the edge of the boat and hold onto five passengers who were floating in the water until another rescue boat arrived. Chang was nominated by the Kiwanis Club of Chin Lan, Taiwan.
